From Clogged Pipes to Water Heater Problems: Plumbing Issues To Expect
If you’re like most people, you probably don’t think about your plumbing until there’s a problem. And when there is a problem, it’s usually a big one! Plumbing issues can range from a simple clogged sink to a full-blown water main break. But don’t worry – Plumbers in Easton MD are here to help!
The first and most common plumbing problem that many people face is a clogged drain. This can happen for any number of reasons, including the buildup of dirt and debris over time, the introduction of hair or other foreign objects into your drains, or even the growth of mold inside your pipes. Luckily, this issue is one that you can fix on your own at home with some simple tools. The first thing to try is plain old soap and hot water – simply pour some liquid dish soap into your drain and then pour boiling water on top to help force it down deep and get rid of the gunk. If this doesn’t work, you may need to use a more heavy-duty method like using a commercial liquid enzyme cleaner or renting an electric auger (also called a toilet snake) to dislodge any debris stuck in the pipes.
Another very common problem is septic tank issues or sewage backups. As with clogged drains, this can happen for one of many reasons – ranging from tree roots causing damage to cracks forming in your tank walls due to aging. If you ever see water bubbling up from your plumbing fixtures, it’s likely that you have a septic tank backup and will need professional help. But if you only notice a foul odor coming from your drainage system, there are some steps that you can take on your own before calling an expert such as pouring enzymes down your drains regularly and keeping an eye on how quickly they clear; if they don’t clear after several minutes, there’s probably a clog that you’ll need to deal with.
Sinks and bathtubs can also experience problems such as leaks or overflows due to loose connections between the pipes in your home and the fixtures themselves. While this type of issue may not be as common as clogged drains or sewage backups, it still happens regularly enough to warrant being on our list. Luckily, this is an easy fix – all you’ll need is a wrench and some plumber’s putty (or something similar) to seal up any cracks or loosely connected pipe-parts that are causing water leaks. If you’re unsure where to start when looking for these issues, simply turn off all your faucets one by one and see if any of them have leaks – if so, you’ll know where to look.
